Mercedes-Benz has revealed some of the specs of its new Concept A-Class, reports carandvannews.co.uk.
The new model, set to be officially revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show in two weeks time, has a "sporty hatch look" that will make it a direct competitor against the Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series.
The vehicle is a four-wheel-drive and powered by a 2-litre version of the petrol engine installed in the Mercedes M270. According to The Telegraph, the car utilises a "turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a dual clutch transmission and a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive Brake Assist."
The Brake Assist, along with a radar-based collision warning system, is a first in the compact class according to Mercedes. Punters might want to sell a car for cash in order to raise some start-up capital to buy the vehicle. However, it is not known whether the car will go into mass production as of yet.
The car's dashboard has "the shape of an aircraft wing and a translucent, stretchable textile lining" allowing "the bionic, cellular structure of the component to remain visible." The car's overall styling is said to have been inspired by a number of things: "The wind and the waves, as well as aviation engineering, were the sources of inspiration of designers" reports The Telegraph.
The Concept A-Class is set to appear at the Shanghai Auto Show from April 21-28.
